The Romance Studio Diva Contest Round 2~

Well, I made it to the second round. Thanks to everyone who voted for my excerpt!

Now, you’ll be looking at my website. Just a little background…it’s my own work. No, I’m not that much of a computer geek, I know just enough HTML to make me really dangerous. I took an open source template and began tweaking until I got it the way I liked it.

Then, I started on the graphic. I bought pictures from Stock Photo and set to work using Photoshop Elements. I’m really happy with the result…so much so that my blog and myspace are also coordinated to my website.

So, go take a look, hope you like it, and if you do …VOTE. If you don’t like mine, take a look at all the others, I’m sure there’s one out there that deserves your vote.

New review for To Catch a Casanova

I just got a great review for To Catch a Casanova. I had tons of fun writing the story, and I’m so glad that someone enjoyed reading it.

“I had a pretty hard time reading through the tears of laughter, but if ever it was earned this is one of those times…It also seemed to be a journey of discovery in more ways than one, but the characters came across as real, the situation though hilarious at times, was also rather emotionally charged and oh, yeah, the sex (all of it) was hot!” – WitchGiggles of Alternative-Read.com

Something WICKED just won’t come…

Since I finished up my Tease Dark Tarot submission, Twilight’s Embrace, I’ve been trying to work on a full-length proposal – but have realized it needs a little more time to percolate.

So, what better than to tackle a WICKED submission or two for Cobblestone Press’s new line. I worked on one that seemed like a perfect fit and the next thing I knew, it turned into a highly complex serial killer story that needs a bit more thought to get the timeline to work.

I went back to a story idea I had several months ago. Again, it seemed like a short story when I conceived of it. After I’d plotted it out and started writing it, it turned into a rather spooky seductive suspense. More suspense than sex… and a heck of a lot longer than a short story.

Sigh.

Perhaps I’m just not cut out to write short erotica. Not too surprising, but a bit disappointing.

When RC gets shanghaied, April thinks he’s her next submissive. But a challenge is issued—if she falls for him during his ‘vacation’, she becomes his submissive for two weeks.

What’s a woman to do?

Excerpt page & Buy Button are HERE

1. What does your family think about you writing erotic romance?

My son and daughter-in-law love it. My parents are ambivalent about the erotica, but they’ve read my mainstream and enjoy it. I think they like seeing how things/interests from my past have colored my writing. Foods, places we’ve traveled, family sayings and quirks, things like t hat.

2. What’s your favorite snack and/or beverage while you’re hard at work?

Salad and bread. I could live off of great bread and tasty salads and bottled water.

3. Do you believe in soulmates?

Absolutely.

4. What’s your favorite holiday?

Used to be Valentine’s Day, but my brother just passed away on that holiday this year, so I’d have to say Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day and Independence Day. I have a thing for elves, shamrocks, and fireworks – lol.

5. Do you have a favorite comfort food?

White mocha frappuccinos from Starbucks or Scooters.

6. How do you inspire yourself?

I enjoy eating and traveling – gotta write to get there.

7. What is your idea of a perfect romantic evening?

Dinner and a movie followed by backrubs, foot rubs, Godiva chocolate, and coffee.

8. Do you have a “secret or private” drawer, box, shelf, etc. And, if you do, name five things in it.

Oh, you didn’t just go there! – LOL

9. If you could change one thing about your habits, what would it be? What is the one thing you’ll never change?

I’m so laid back that I’m almost comatose, and I rather like not being a stressball, so I wouldn’t change a thing. How’s that for arrogant?

10. If you could be any animal for just day, which one would you choose and why?

I’d be one of my dogs – they seem to enjoy life.

11. If you had one superpower, what would it be and what name would you call yourself?

I loved the television series “Heroes”, and the Peter Petrelli character had my vote for the most awesome superpower – he could acquire whatever power any of the other characters possessed. What would I call myself? I’d have to be naughty and call myself Super C. The C would stand for my last name, but it’d be ‘out there’ for interpretation. Gotta give those who don’t like us the opportunity to trash us, you know?

Care for a Tease?

This post is oooooh so appropriate on two different counts. The first is that I’m blogging today over on the Cobblestone Press blog about an excerpt booklet published by the Marketing For Romance Writers group. So, pop on over there to browse luscious cover art, enticing blurbs, and mouth-watering excerpts.

Second…I finished my Tease Dark Tarot — Twilight’s Embrace. Wow. The words just poured out of me once I got started. I began writing the ending the other day during one of my writing stints at Panera Bread Company. It was so moving, I had tears in my eyes. So….I wrapped it up and finished writing it at home where I could cry over my keyboard! Final word count ended up being 33,300 words, most of which I wrote in under a week. Yowza!

Back in the heyday of my youth, I must have seen this movie every Friday night for an entire college semester. We brought all the props but I was never brave enough to dress up — probably a very good thing!

Anyway, this has been the oddest day. Up until about 10 minutes ago, I thought it was a Monday! LOL. Have you ever done that?

Time Warp.

It’s astounding, time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely, not for very much longer
I’ve got to keep control

I remember doing the TIme Warp
Drinking those moments when
The blackness would hit me and the void would be calling
Let’s do the time warp again…
Let’s do the time warp again!

It’s just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it’s the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane,
Let’s do the Time Warp again!

It’s so dreamy, oh fantasy free me
So you can’t see me, no not at all
In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention
Well-secluded, I see all
With a bit of a mind flip
You’re there in the time slip
And nothing can ever be the same
You’re spaced out on sensation, like you’re under sedation
Let’s do the Time Warp again!

Well I was walking down the street just a-having a think
When a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink
He shook me up, he took me by surprise
He had a pickup truck and the devil’s eyes.
He stared at me and I felt a change
Time meant nothing, never would again
Let’s do the Time Warp again!
